A Personal Appeal

The “Personal” category has been added. Now, I never planned to add much of my personal musings to this site. This isn’t Tumblr, Instagram, Pintrest, or any other microblogging platform. It’s WordPress. Although I run the site by myself and the site’s purpose is clearly stated at the top of every page, I would like to remind everyone that a living, breathing human being like the rest of us is behind it.

Home, 2011-2012

I have come to a profound realization, and it resulted me in taking a decision that was not easy. You see, I have not adapted well to my college environment. Like many of you here, I am a socially secluded person. I am a massive introvert; that is to say, I drive people away from me. It is difficult for me to socialize and yet, I yearn for new friends in this new stage of life that I am currently in. There is much to be gained, but it all depends on me how much I want from it.

Today, my friends, I want to talk about change with you. I want to show you how powerful you are.

Maria Holic S1 + S2 Review and DLL [Edit]

It’s only a review of Season 1 so far. And uh, in an effort to make things a little more organized, I’ll talk about the show and divide it into the areas I think are most important. Links are at the bottom as usual.

Maria Holic isn’t exactly a new show, but I considered checking it out because the second season just finished airing, and because it’s a Shaft work. Recall that Shaft is behind Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Puella Magi Madoka Magika, Bakemonogatari/Nisemongatari, and so on. In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a huge fan of Shaft, though their work can vary tremendously each show. Maria Holic’s selling point is: A lesbian who enrolls at an all-girls Catholic school for the sole purpose of finding her love, and yet instead makes contact with a cunning, sadistic trap. It sounded like a spoiler to me at first, but Shaft does nothing to hide it. It is revealed by the end of the first episode.

My favorites from this album have to be Valentine Snow, Mad Factory, and Android System. This is the first time I listen to Naturegraph, but Android System is a glitchy d&b track that sounds great. It’s an excellent track to have in the background while you’re working, though that pretty much applies to all the songs here. Valentine Snow by syzfonics is a very refreshing example of euphoric trance. And then, you have Sakuzyo with Mad Factory, which adds an industrial feel to the entire album. The variety here is quite good.

Works.2 was released this C81, but I haven’t been able to get ahold of it yet. It’s a two-disc album and I’ll make a new post once I have it.

GreenVirus76: A Redesigned Channel

One of the things I’ve been busy on is finding a way to get music I like across a larger audience. Hello, Youtube!

And yep, it’s now ready! Some of the new features you will notice are:

  • Redesigned Youtube interface
  • More videos with music information
  • More variety
  • External links

It’s much of the same, but my goal is to stand out. In contrast to other channels, I try to make mine to have a lasting impact on the viewers. So I will sometimes sub lyrics if they’re available, sometimes I will animate a few slides, and sometimes I’ll do a slideshow. I understand that many do not watch a video when they’re listening to a song. They just leave Youtube playing in the background while they do something else. That is also okay since my goal is ultimately about bringing the music. It’s just another way of going about visual design.

I invite you to have a look, and to comment if anything is on your mind. I also take requests, so if there is an album you’d like to see online, please let me know so that I can check it out!

My formalities. Happy New Year, Merry Christmas, Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Halloween. Wow, I’ve been out. I can elaborate more on my personal life in a different post, but that will best be appropriate at another time. Short story: College. It’s been one hell of a transition but I’ve enjoyed every single day of it.

I recently finished Bakemonogatari over the course of last week, and while it wasn’t my first time watching it, I was just simply blown away.
