Titled as “Japan’s Worst Crisis Since WWII,” this 9.0 Earthquake measuring on the Ritcher Scale has struck Japan on Friday, March 11th 2011.

Hitting just off the coast of Sendai, Japan; the disaster left many people homeless and missing. The Japanese National Police Agency has claimed as of today 10,489 casualties, 2,777 injured and 16,621 people missing across 18 prefectures.  There has also been a estimated number of 125,000 buildings destroyed.

The earthquake and tsunami has also caused major blackouts which left about 4.4 million homes in northeastern Japan without electricity and an estimated 1.4 million without water. Electrical generators were taken down and nuclear reactors were impacted as well. The nuclear reactors suffered overheating which caused an emergency shutdown. Explosions occurred due to buildup of hydrogen gas.

The Sendai (Tohoku) Earthquake of Japan, measuring 9.0 on the Ritcher Scale, makes it the most powerful earthquake to have hit ever Japan, and also one of the five most powerful earthquakes in the world since modern records started in 1900. The earthquake so far has caused more of a disaster than World War II and it is also the most expensive natural disaster in the world, estimating a cost in damages that can reach US$309 Billion.

Silver Japan 2010 – Day 1

Hello! Tsundere Works here, I’m back in Los Angeles from my trip to Japan.

More of an informative series of posts than a bunch of pages from a Diary, I will be writing and sharing with you my experiences in Japan. I aim to give the feeling of you being there. Also remember that if you have any questions, please feel free to ask me! It’s summer, and I have a lot of free time, so I will be updating the site often.

Without further ado, here’s Day 1!

Please remember that this was a trip organized by my Japanese school. Along with the Principal, two Japanese girls, an annoying white boy and myself were the only ones who went. Next time, I will be going with my own friends. We’re going to Japan strictly to party and have a good time. Please bring plenty of spending money if you’re coming with me.

The title is named “Silver Japan” because it was an excellent experience for me, however, it should have been better. My group did not share my interests, therefore it was difficult to decide where to go at times. Also, the annoying little brat complained about everything from time to time with his enormous weaboo accent.

Nevertheless, I got respected by the Japanese wherever I went, and I had a good time as well.

The United States loves Japan ^_^
